….or oil-based paints, or stain, or any of those hard to get off products out there!
If you have done any sort of DIY project you have definitely gotten paint on your hands. Now, water-based/latex paint is no big deal; it peels off easily and you are done. Now to remove oil-based paint from your hands can be a pain! If you’ve used it once you know! The feeling of it on your hands is awful and pouring mineral spirits on your skin is not ideal. These pictures came from when I spray painted the drawer pulls on this makeover.

Magic Ingredients
So, what do you do? Well, I have a very easy and effective method for you! It is not only easy but uses 2 very basic items you may even have in your own home already. They are coconut oil and baking soda…seriously that’s correct! Coconut oil and Baking soda.
Remove The Paint From Your Hands
Simply apply a decent amount of both ingredients to the palm of one hand (like pictured above), rub it all over your hands like a good exfoliation treatment, and like magic, it will remove the hard-to-wash off paint products from your hands.
Once it has all come off I add soap to my hands and wash my hands like normal, rinsing well. Depending on how much product is on your hands are, you might want to repeat the steps one more time.
You can see just a teeny tiny bit of paint leftover around my nails. That’s all dry skin/cuticles that the paint refused to come off of. I easily could have used a nail brush to get those last little bits off too!
Seriously how easy was that! So simple! This method works great for stain as well! Check out this amazing kitchen table makeover where I used stain to elevate our table! Plus it’s a moisturizing exfoliation treatment for your hands…WIN-WIN! Now when you absolutely have to work with oil-based products at least one thing will be easier to manage!
