Hey, Y’all! My name is Krikit and I am the woman behind this blog! I grew up in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex and moved away when I went to college. College is where I met and married my husband who is a cowboy through and through. After graduation, we packed up, moved to full-time ranch life, and have lived on a couple of different ranches in the mountain west. Currently, we are on a ranch in the middle of nowhere Montana, and love it! We have three children ages 6, 5, and 3, and countless animals! Some of my favorite things to do are read, refinish furniture, take long walks through pastures, beading (check out my Facebook or Instagram to see some of my work), and spending time with my family.
Refinishing Furniture
Refinishing furniture is a hobby of mine that I have done for many years. I wanted to share the tips and tricks I have learned over the years with those who are wanting to refinish furniture on their own too. I aim to do so in a way that is not only cost-effective but also for any person at any stage of their refinishing journey. Even if you have never painted a single thing in your life I want to be able to give you the resources and direction needed for you to be successful. There is so much information out there that it is hard to weed through it all. It is hard to know which paintbrush is really the best; do you really need to spend $40 on a single paintbrush? Is the writer actually giving an honest review? Is the author just trying to make a sale? Sometimes investing in quality products is worth it and sometimes it is not. Luckily for you, I weed through it all so you do not have to. If you have any direct questions that have not been answered please reach out and I will do my absolute best to help!
Ranch Life
I did not grow up in a ranching community but after 10 years on the ranch; ranch life is the best life. One thing about ranch life is that not only is it my husband’s full-time job but it is also a lifestyle. We live and work right here on the ranch 24/7. Many people think we are crazy living an hour away from town but they don’t see the day-to-day adventures that make living so far away a true blessing. I want to share these blessings and day-to-day happenings with y’all throughout this blog one day! Oftentimes people watch a popularized show and think that is what it is like, but we should all know by now that Hollywood rarely gets it right. Follow along our journey and explore a lifestyle that very few people get to experience but that everyone gets to benefit from!
Mom Life
Not only am I pretty lucky to live life on a ranch but I get to do it with the best family in the world. Being a ranch mom has taught me a lot about self-sufficiency and how to do almost everything with kids in tow. This may not seem like a big deal but I am not talking just grocery shopping here. Where I (or my husband) go so do our kids. So if I am working that day sorting cattle then guess what my kids are right there with us. I have learned how to budget like a boss and be prepared for just about anything. You can learn amazing things from people from all walks of life. Being someone who has lived city life to now ranch living I feel like I have a unique perspective on different things. I have found what has worked for me and hope that even if I help just one mom out there that my work here is worth it! From budgeting to meal planning, to handling anxiety and postpartum hormone madness, to self-care when funds are low to handling mom burn out when you just have to mom, and everything in-between.
